Imagining A Post-Covid Workplace
for The International Living Future Institute
Brooklyn Navy Yard, Building 77

Exploring the design challenge of creating a workspace suited for the post-COVID era, this project focused on transforming an office space within the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The goal was to establish an inviting and adaptable environment that employees would look forward to using. The concept was shaped by the evolving needs of contemporary workplaces, emphasizing flexibility, privacy, and spontaneous interactions.

Through in-depth research and analysis of historical office and furniture design precedents, I examined the evolution of workspaces, with a particular focus on the Beats by Dr. Dre offices in California. I explored color and material palettes and integrated environmental graphics to align the workspace with the client’s identity and branding.

A custom-designed central seating area serves as the primary highlight of the floor, surrounded by additional seating that supports unconventional workspaces beyond traditional office settings. A material library and a dedicated workshop area were incorporated, along with an outdoor seating space that evokes the experience of being outside through carefully selected materials and furniture.
